I love it when we have a Saturday full of fun things to do and last Saturday was one of those days. Growing up our ward had a ward rodeo every year and it was one of the highlights of growing up in American Fork. That tradition still continues and last Saturday was the Ward Rodeo. Even though I don't still live in that ward, it will always be my Ward. My grandma still lives there so we all go when we can and it's just like coming home. I started the day with a 5K run with Riley, Lindsay, Shelby, Karilyn & Julia. The kids all did really well and finished the race with no problem. After the race the Elders had prepared a yummy breakfast followed by carnival type games. Riley had a flag football game in the middle so he & I rushed back for the game while Karilyn stayed with the girls, and then rushed back for the rodeo. Riley & Lindsay both tried Mutton Busting and did awesome.
Richard, Riley, Lindsay, Shelby & Julia chased chickens and Richard, Riley & Shelby each caught one.
After the rodeo was a BBQ lunch and it was so much fun to see everyone who still lives in that ward. They all seem to never age! After being there I decided I want to move back to that ward. Even though most of the people are new, that ward is still the best ward in the Church! So many great kids & adults. I loved being there again.
The day was only half over, so we decided to go boating with Eric & his family. I think I'm losing my mind because I got all the way down to Utah Lake with NO LIFE JACKETS, WATER SKIS, OR WAKE BOARDS! Just as I was pulling in Riley says,"uh mom, did you get our life jackets?". Thanks Riley, you could have reminded me when I was pulling out of the garage! Then I got onto the boat and realized that I had left my camera in the car! Eric had enough life jackets, Riley surfed instead of wake boarded, the kids rode the tubes instead of water skied, and Amber had her camera. In the end everyone had a great day full of fun. We'll squeeze every last drop out of summer!
