Yesterday at Church someone made my day! After Sacrament Meeting one of the young new fathers in our ward came up to me and asked what my secret was to having my kids sit still at church. HA...what a laugh! The fact that someone actually noticed that my kids were well behaved at church was really a shock. I didn't even think they were that great until he said it. If you have ever sat anywhere around us during Church up until this point and frankly sometimes even at this point you're probably laughing right now! When Richard who I like to call the ringleader, was younger he was terrible. I have flashbacks of tripping over chairs pregnant with Riley trying desperately to get to him before he got to the piano...in VAIN. Yes, that's right pounding on a piano in the middle of testimony meeting from a 2 year old. And that my friends was just the beginning. Richard thought it was so funny that each week was a new adventure. Keeping my children in one place at the same time is a little like herding cats! You might be wondering where Merrill was at this point, unless as I said before you have sat around the 3 ring circus. Merrill has the remarkable ability of tuning children out, particularly his own! Thankfully Richard has really grown up, and Riley and Lindsay don't really know what to do without a ringleader so Church is much more pleasant these days. So as you can imagine when someone asked ME how I get my kids to sit so still at Church, it just may have been the best compliment I've had all year! Thanks Brother "B", I'm going to sit by you more often.
